"The Talent Talk": Walking is the new sitting

Introduction to WALK-i-TASK

Excited about this week’s newsletter! I will introduce WALK-i-TASK, created by a Detroit, Michigan Native Chris Fischer & his wife Jordan! A treadmill desk attachment that changes the way we work remotely! With remote/hybrid work schedules being adopted across the world, employees are sitting for 6+ hours during the workday. There is a growing demand for health and wellness products to help keep you moving!

Benefits and Value of Staying Healthy in the Workplace.

Move!

We all forget to do this during our workday!

Do not wait for your apple watch to tell you to stand.

Moving throughout the day offers tremendous benefits for your mind, health, and productivity. By staying active, you prepare your body and mind to face any challenges that come your way. Moreover, it boosts your heart rate, facilitating the circulation of blood and oxygen throughout your body. This keeps you in top form!

While working from home or following hybrid work schedules has become the norm, it can inadvertently lead to a decline in overall health. Your daily commute now consists of a mere ten steps between your bed and your makeshift office, which may contribute to a sedentary lifestyle.

Apart from the physical advantages, walking also has a positive impact on your mindset. It grants you time to think and process your thoughts, while providing a break from the constant stimulation of your work environment. This, in turn, reduces stress and anxiety, and fosters creativity and problem-solving abilities.

If you're seeking ways to enhance your health, mindset, and productivity, I highly recommend incorporating walking into your routine. Even a short walk can make a significant difference.

Launched in 2019 and nationally recognized by Jordan and Chris Fisher, WALK-i-TASK was created to help keep you active and moving. They recognized the detrimental effects of being stationary at a desk on work efficiency, mental health, and overall productivity. Jordan and Chris personally experienced these negative impacts while working sales positions from home. This prompted them to research and brainstorm a solution that would allow them to stay active while performing their day-to-day roles.

Recognizing that their DIY bookshelf solution was not sufficient, they went back to the drawing board to develop a height-adjustable product that could cater to everyone. And thus, the WALK-i-TASK was born.

The idea for WALK-i-TASK was sparked when they removed a shelf from their wall and placed it across the handrails of their treadmill. As they dove into research, they discovered that many others were facing a similar situation. The rise of remote and hybrid work models had led to a significant impact on people's mental health and overall well-being due to prolonged sitting. This served as inspiration for Jordan and Chris to find a resolution.

The WALK-i-TASK offers expandability, compatibility with various treadmill handrails, and height adjustability. It caters to all individuals and heights, allowing them to break free from a sedentary lifestyle.

The primary objective of WALK-i-TASK was straightforward: to promote movement throughout the day, particularly for those working from home who already owned a treadmill. It aimed to provide an alternative to purchasing expensive, all-inclusive $4000 treadmills or non-height adjustable options. It also aimed to eliminate the need for unsafe and insecure DIY projects like the one they initially created.

Why is Walk-i-TASK different? No better person to tell you than Chris Fischer.

“A key component is we fit most treadmills. And because treadmills are designed so differently, the handrails can be different thickness, or they could be a different distance apart from each other. There is nothing on the market that is as compatible with as many handrails as we are. That's a big key differentiator.

The second point, Dan would be our height adjustability as we touched on before. It's critical for folks like your boyfriend. If he's looking at that flat board you have across your current treadmill, he will be hunched and bent over, causing more strain on the neck and back while creating future problems. Height adjustability solves that problem.

A couple other cool things our desk does is tilt at an angle. We get a lot of feedback from our customers who are taking their virtual calls while on the treadmill desk and want to put their treadmill on incline but keep everything on the desk flat. Because our desk can tilt at different angles, you're able to do this.

And lastly, we were one of the first to the market. Now we are starting to see some more people in the treadmill attachment space, and a lot of those companies are drop shipping companies from overseas. So, what that means is typically the quality is going to be low. There's no real website, there's no customer service, there's no local support.

We have a website with real customer service where we can jump on the phone with you. If you are trying to figure out if it fits your treadmill or not, or if you have any issues setting up the desk to your treadmill, we're able to be extremely hands on with our customers and I think they really, really appreciate that. So, when you visit our website, it's a live chat, it's not a robot giving you back some standard message.”
